Since 1906, Bennett Wood Specialties has been a leading manufacturer of custom made to order wood products. Now in our 4th generation of family ownership, our legacy of quality work continues. From our century-old catalog of wooden laboratory supplies to modern furniture building, the quality of our work is second to none. We have long said "If it's made of wood, we can make it". Our History
Bennett Wood Specialties has a long and rich history of the highest quality made to order wood parts. We are currently in our 4th generation of family ownership.
  • 1906
    William C Bennett Founded Bennett Lumber & Manufacturing Co. in Hart, MI.
  • 1929
    As the business expanded, the need for a larger facility with a larger workforce became apparent. Bennett Lumber & Manufacturing Co. moved to Zeeland, MI.
  • 1949
    Carlton W Bennett acquired ownership following the death of William C Bennett.
  • 1957
    Robert C Bennett obtained ownership following the death of Carlton W Bennett.
  • 1971
    To better fit the evolving work being done, Bennett Lumber & Manufacturing Co. was renamed Bennett Wood Specialties, Inc.
  • 1994
    Joe Bennett, 4th generation owner and President took over. He currently serves as President.
  • 1999
    During the dissolution of Batts, Inc., another Zeeland company and world-renouned hanger company, Bennett Wood Specialties bought the wood division and incorporated them into our business. Renamed Robert Carlton Hangers, we continue to provide the highest quality wooden clothes hangers in the world.
